My principal forward your e-mail to my class. I teach 8th grade studentson how to use netscape and the internet. We are interested in starting an email exchange with schools in Germany. However, none of our students speak German. If you have students in our age bracket, 13-14, we would be happy to hear from you. Our school web site is located at:

http://www.huensd.k12.ca.us/blackstock/

Our junior high is located about 45 minutes from Los Angeles. We are approximately two miles from the ocean. If you are intersted, please contact me.

Thanks

Greetings! I am an English teacher in Southern California. I teach in the inner city (South Central) I have about 10 students at the moment, and the number is growing, with web access at home. We just got several technology grants for our school and will soon have more web sites at school. My students would be very interested in corresponding with students in Germany.

Please add me to your mailing list and keep me informed.

Thank you for this opportunity for my students.

Peace,

Brett Hoag

Grüße aus Los Angeles! Vielen Dank für Ihr E-mail. Ich habe mir euer Website angeschaut und fand es wirklich ausgezeichnet! Das Konzept ist gut und ich denke das hiesige Schulen sollten interessiert sein.

As your English is clearly better than my German, I hope you don't mind that I finish my reply in the former language. I am currently assisting the school in developing their online presence and am, temporarily, their Online Project Coordinator. That's why I'm the one answering your mail.

However, by profession, I'm a partner in an online production studio <www.tetramedia.com> here in LA. Consequently, while I can make recommendations to the school, the decision-making on participation in your Surfin' California project is not up to me.

By way of encouragement, I am aware that Verdugo Hills High is interested in establishing exactly such an online exchange as you are proposing; however, they are still in the process of completing the technical infrastructure to allow students regular access to, and participation with, the Internet. I do not know whether they will be ready in time for your November launch. I will be passing your invitation along to the appropriate persons and will be discussing it with the principal and other decision makers at the school. I'll let you know what they decide.

Best of luck in your efforts. Keep up the excellent work!

mit freundlichen Grüßen!

Our 6th grade Social Studies class is doing research papers on their country of origin. They would love to ask questions of other students living in those places. I will download the list with my next correspondence. Thank you in advance to any teacher who takes the time to respond to my request.
